Hi friends! I had an awesome meeting with a client yesterday working on her marketing calendar. I wanted to share some tips. Things that she hadn't thought about including in her marketing calendar and you may not have thought about including in yours. Recently, we put together an awesome marketing piece that they received great results from. She wants to go forward in 2020 and capitalize on that since their customers really resonated with it. The marketing message was "What is your vision for 2020?" So, we asked ourselves, what can we do this year to continue that marketing campaign? In the original piece, we talked about her company’s visions/goals and asked for help to reach her. We also asked for her target audience to share theirs so that they can return the favor and support them. Now, let’s think about your marketing.Have you done a marketing piece and received great results?
How else can you use it throughout the year?
Is there a themed event that you can create around it that you can invite them to?
What swag can you tie into it to use as giveaways, direct mail pieces, as incentives for completing a goal that you're giving them? ***What are those pieces of swag that will connect your theme to who you are and who they are? Like the white stuffing in the middle of an Oreo. Where you are one side of the Oreo and your target audiences is the other?
Think about what's going to be happening over the next year that people will be talking about. Things that you can capitalize on and tie into with your message.
Think about the four seasons. What are people going through during those times that you can tie into?
Are there any major sporting events that people are talking about?
What's going on with the universe? Are there meteor showers, eclipses, etc. this year? You can google these topics to find out If you don’t already know.
What personal touches can you give them that ties in?
How are you going to find out what's going on in their life so you can connect with them? Follow them on social media. When you're meeting with them face to face, ask questions that create a conversation. Ask how the family's doing, about upcoming vacations, and other questions you can connect to them with.
Send handwritten cards. Support them when you know that they're going through hard times, congratulate them when you know they have something to celebrate. That’s relationship building and it’s going to grow your business.
Here are some fun ideas to put on your 2020 marketing calendar that you may not have thought about.
Do a vision board party. Have something to drink and a good time. Create a fun space that they can bond. They see your vision board. You see theirs and it's helping to pull out conversations and connections.
These are super-hot right now. Give out blue blocker glasses. Imprinted with your logo, your vision for this year, a tagline, something that can remind them about you.

Did you know that this year Yahoo is going to open their time capsule of things that people put in during 2006? How cool is that to talk about! You can tie that into your marketing calendar with looking back and also looking forward.
In August the Yankees and the White Sox will be playing a Field of Dreams game on a cornfield with eight thousand fans. That's so cool! There's a lot of things that we can tie in around that and I think people are going to be talking about that.
Go through your marketing calendarand add these things in there. Think about ways that you can connect with your target audience, tie it into your message, and get more engagement. Think about your marketing pieces that have got a lot of attention that have connected with your target audience and how can you weave that throughout the year.
