Let's talk about ways that you can get discovered online. We're doing this series to help Realtors grow their business this year, but honestly, anyone can tweak it and use it for their business. This is part two where we're talking about ways to get discovered online and offline. Let’s dive in…Three ways to get discovered ONLINE are:
- Live streaming: It gets three times the number of views, ten times the number of comments, and it's prioritized in the newsfeed over videos.
- Videos:
- If you're posting videos on social media like Facebook, the suggested video length is 15 seconds to 1 minute. Remember your viewer is normally scrolling through without the sound on so include subtitles on your videos.
- On YouTube, they're willing to watch a longer video so put a longer video up and they'll listen to it with the sound on too.
- Image posts: Minimalist posts are out. Now people want color, texture, and lifestyle images. They want you to bring them into that moment where whatever it is you're talking about is happening. Tell the story, feel the emotion, tap into the senses.

- Live events: Do them! It’s a great way to get in front of a lot of people. To help you get in front of more, put together a team of professionals who can help your clients before, during, and after you've helped them. Do live events with that team. Go rent out a movie theater and have a client’s night and tell them to bring a friend. Do a summer party or a holiday party. Your imagination is the limit!
- Pop-up shops: Pop up shop in a location that is not your office. Go to a coffee shop and set up shop for a few hours and invite people in the area to come by and you’ll answer any questions they have about your expertise. Show you care, you can help them and don’t let them walk away empty handed. Give them a gift for stopping by!
2. Be different: Make sure that you are standing out from the crowd and doing things differently. For realtors, there are standard postcards that a lot of realtors send out like a market update card where it shows the for sale, sold and pending in the area they are targeting. Instead, try sending postcard messages that show you care about your clients, you care about helping them reach their goals and that it's more than just a transaction to you. Do you have a stack of business cards on your desk? Ones you’ve collected, but have no idea whose business cards are in that stack. A lot of people do. Every card looks the same. There’s nothing about your card that makes you stand out. How about doing a business card that gets attention? Gets you noticed? That shows you aren’t like everyone else?

One that stands out is my lip balm business card. It makes people smile when I hand it out. There's also the microfiber cloth card in a pouch with a huge imprint area and they’ll be reminded of you every time they use it. Plant a tree card imprinted like a business card. Then they can plant a tree anywhere in the world they choose.Add a card-shaped option to the plant a tree card like our tangle-free headphone winder. Then you’ll solve their problem of having headphones that are all knotted up. 3. Branded items: I call branded items “Breadcrumbs”. Why is that? Think like Hansel and Gretel. They laid the bread crumbs down so when they were ready to go home all they had to do was follow them back. A branded item does the same thing. Every time they look at a branded item, they think of the person or company who’s on there which makes you memorable. When they're ready to use your products or services they know how to get a hold of you because it's branded with your information!Pop-bys AKA self-promotions: It’s an item that you give out with a fun little card that ties them together. Example, you’d give a USB car charger with a postcard that says "Get ready to change your smile" and it has a challenge on the back. You can also do something fun for Star Wars day. Here’s a card that says "Always be yourself unless you can be a Jedi, then be a Jedi". There’s a branded pen inside and the top of it lights up like a lightsaber, making it fun, and engaging, creating experiences and making you memorable. Now you’ve used these tips to get discovered by your new (cross your fingers) client. They’ve said, “Yes, I want to meet with you”. Time to make a great first impression. When you go to this first meeting I don't want you to just think of it as a boring old meeting. This is like dating. Are you going to show up empty-handed? No, you're not. I suggest bringing them a welcome kit with a notebook. Why? Because when I was going through my experience of buying and selling my home, there was too much information to take in, I needed a notebook to keep everything together.Help them out and keep your brand in front of them and their friends by giving them a notebook. We can customize the first page for you by talking about how you and your collaboration team will help them reach their goals. Include specials, and coupons to incentivize your new client to use your collaboration team too. Remember your collaboration team can help refer to each other, market together and share expenses making this a win-win for everyone. Also, put a link to your Pinterest boards to help them solve their pain points and other things they need help with. They are searching for it anyways. Your job is to be the resource for them. Put the trends for this year, what's hot that’s related to homes, organizational tips, and tips on moving. You don't have to constantly be changing them. Just position yourself as an expert.Kids are often overlooked yet they are an important part of this process. Before you go to this meeting I want you to think about: Do they have kids? Do they have pets? Find out and if so bring them a gift so that you can show that it's not just about you and your client, this is about their whole family and you’re here to care for all of them. That’s it for part two of this series on helping you grow your real estate business this year.
