Today I have a fun idea for you that one of my neighbors just did on a personal level. I thought, how can I take this and make it something that my clients can do to grow their business? As you probably know, building a community around us that supports our business is key to growing our business. When was the last time you did something that bonded you with your neighbors and helped promote your business at the same time? Not in a salesy way, in a way that’s fun and induces the law of reciprocity (which means I give to you and you give back to me).One day, my daughter and I came home to find a flyer on our doorstep. One of our neighbors invited us to the ”first outdoor movie night” in our neighborhood. The flier listed the time, location, address, what to bring and that the movie would be appropriate for kids. Our family talked, got excited and everyone wanted to go.We went and everyone was really nice and welcoming. Everybody had their chairs, sitting on the court with their snacks ready. Then we all voted as a group on what movie we’d watch. The winner…Jumanji with The Rock (who doesn’t like The Rock?).The movie was great and so was the friendships being formed. At the end of it, the gentlemen in charge said: "Does everyone want to do this again?" Everybody enthusiastically said, "Yes!” and then we all sat around and talked some more. What was one of the questions that every adult asked the other? “What do you do?” What a perfect question to ask.As neighbors, we instantly have a connection because we live in the same community. It's a good place to find warm leads. It’s not a place to be pushy or salesy, the business will come to you. Just show you genuinely do care about your neighbors. Now, let’s talk about how you can do this for your business and improve on what my neighbor did.
- For the flyers, add your name and contact information. That way people can reach out to you if they have any questions.
- Ask them to bring chairs instead of blankets.
- Instead of just sending a flier for the invitation that will be thrown away. Use a branded item that they will use frequently and put the flier with it such as:
- A Koozie, it keeps your drink cool and stops the condensation from dripping on you. Order yours by clicking here.
- Touchscreen gloves. It can get cold at night when you're watching the movies. Touchscreen gloves with your branding on them. Order yours by clicking here.
Flashlight. We walked back and forth in the dark. Giving a branded flashlight would be perfect and attach it to the invitation. Order yours by clicking here.Smartphone wallet. You can put your credit card or driver's license inside instead of bringing a purse or wallet. You can also put your business card inside of it when you pass out the fliers and tell them to contact you with any questions. Order yours by clicking here. This fun idea is easy to implement. Think about how you will use it. Build the law of reciprocity into what you're doing while meeting your neighbors. We had so much fun and are looking forward to doing another one.BTW…if you don't have a projector, I found this projector on Amazon for $60. The portable screen is on Amazon for $60 too. As you can see it’s not expensive to do this and think of all the great things that will come out of it.If you are ready to stand out, build relationships, and reach your goals then contact me today!
